An elderly man has been injured following a serious crash in Wiltshire.

Police closed the A303 in the evening in Thursday, September 19 between Winterbourne Stoke and the Longbarrow roundabout near Stonehenge after two vehicles were involved in the incident at 5pm.

Emergency services attended and police advised drivers to find alternative routes while the road was blocked.

The carriageway was closed in both directions for several hours between the Longbarrow roundabout and the A303 junction with the A36 Deptford, but police have confirmed the A303 is now back open as usual.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 5pm yesterday we responded to a two vehicle collision on the A303 near the Longbarrow roundabout.

“One of the drivers, a man in his 70s, suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-changing.

“The road was closed for several hours to allow for recovery and has now reopened.”
