Lady Gaga “swooped in” to give a Wiltshire business a boost when it needed it most, the owner has revealed.

Carrie Jenkinson, a milliner from Sutton Benger near Chippenham, has spoken of how Lady Gaga ordered four hats from her, sparking a “mental” period in her life.

Ms Jenkinson started making hats over a decade ago, after teaching herself the skills using YouTube and leaving her job to start Carrie Jenkinson Millinery.

In 2014 she signed a deal with retail giant House of Fraser and has now hit the headlines again.

Ms Jenkinson told the BBC that Lady Gaga ordered four hats which were worn at her residency in Las Vegas.

“The Lady Gaga thing has swooped in at a moment when I really needed a lift”, she told the BBC.

“It has gone a bit mental.”

Last year an accident left Ms Jenkinson brain damaged, and she had to retrain herself to make the hats, but feels they are now better than before.

Despite her newfound fame, she has no plans to leave her village setup.

Speaking to the BBC, she added: "I do feel like a fish out of water. The knock-on effects have been massive. I'm just riding the wave of it.”
