An investigation is underway after an incident that happened in a car park at one of the National Trust's popular beauty spots.
While details remain unconfirmed, unofficial reports suggest that a six-year-old girl fell into a septic tank in the car park at Kynance and was rescued by her father, with both of them subsequently taken to hospital.
The National Trust, which is headquartered in Swindon, confirmed that it was investigating an "incident" near the visitor car park, on the cliff above the beach at Kynance.
However, it did not comment on specific details of what happened.
A National Trust spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident involving a child near the visitor car park at Kynance in Cornwall.
“We are still in the process of investigating the incident fully. In the meantime, our thoughts are with the family involved.”
A member of the public, who does not wish to be named contacted the Packet to say that after the incident, the car park at Kynance Cove had been fenced off.
