A Swindon shop manager who sexually assaulted five of his employees has avoided jail time after a hearing at Swindon Crown Court.

Laurence Norris-Ing, of Garnet Crescent, pleaded guilty to three counts of multiple incidents of sexual assault and three incidents of sexual assault.

These took place against five different victims all between 2018 and 2021.

The court heard how the now 33-year-old had been working at a retail shop in Swindon at the time when he sexually touched five members of female staff, three of whom were under the age of 18 at the time.

"At the time the offences were committed Norris-Ing was working as the victims' manager, abusing his position," said Sergeant Vaughan.

But despite pleading guilty to the offences, Norris-ing has avoided jail time and been given a 21-month suspended sentence for two years.

This means he will not be sent to prison unless he commits another crime within the next two years.

The Swindon man must also participate in a 43-day accredited programme, carry out up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity, and carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.

He will also be placed on the Sex Offenders List for the next 10 years.

"I'd like to tell anyone who has been a victim of an offence to please come forward and speak to us," added Sergeant Vaughan.

"We have specially trained officers who can listen and will work with you.

"Your information could help us bring the offender to justice and make sure you, and other people in a similar situation, are kept safe."
