The most common roads for speeding have been revealed as fines skyrocket by 600 per cent.
This year nearly seven times the fixed penalty notices were issued by Wiltshire Police in comparison to 2021/2022, rising from 1,496 to 9,964.
At £100 each if paid, this amounts to nearly £1 million pounds of tickets in a year from April 2023 to April 2024 and an average of 27 fines a day.
Information obtained by a freedom of information request by Legal Expert also shows which roads in Swindon and Wiltshire most of these tickets are being given on.
The road where most Wiltshire drivers were caught speeding in the last year was revealed as Thamesdown Drive in Swindon where 704 drivers were spotted exceeding the limit.
Of those, 113 drivers were issued a fine and/or points on their licence and a further 590 were made to attend a speed awareness course. One of the drivers went to court.
Swindon Road in Wroughton, Swindon Road in Highworth, two areas of Queen's Drive and Spital Lane in Cricklade are among other problem roads for fast driving.
Elsewhere in Wiltshire Coombe Bassett, Garnham, Tilshead and Ludgershall all feature.
