A Wroughton gardening group is "flourishing" as it celebrates its 80th year, its chairperson has said.
Wroughton and District Gardeners' Society marked the milestone year with the Wroughton Village Show, featuring a bake-off.
The event on Saturday, September 21, saw nearly 500 entries, including vegetables, fruit, crafts, photography, and the newly named bake-off section.
Chairperson Jess Bailey said: "It’s amazing to see the group flourishing with our largest ever membership in our 80th year."
The village hall was filled with tables showcasing the contributions.
Among the entries were some unusual vegetables, including a parsnip with "two very long legs" and the "curliest runner bean".
There were also displays of red peppers, purple chillies, and green melons.
In the bake-off section, entrants impressed with marmalade muffins made with homemade marmalade and Victoria sponge cakes featuring homemade strawberry jam.
The showstopper cake was won by garden club member Catherine Kemble, who decorated a cake with mini fondant vegetables to depict an autumnal vegetable patch, complete with edible soil.
Committee member Jane Fry said: "It was a great day. Very enjoyable and well organised."
The group meets every third Monday of the month at the Ellendune Community Centre in Wroughton at 7pm.
