A popular shop on the edge of Swindon selling refillable products has closed its doors for the last time as it prepares to move to a bigger site.

Matthew and Michelle Aherne first opened Weigh It Up on Swindon Street in Highworth after refitting an old Betfred bookmakers in November 2022.

The refill shop sells renewably sourced products such as seeds, beans, snacks, pasta shapes, pix and mix sweets and an assortment of other goods which can be weighed and carried in paper bags or in containers brought from home.

Since starting the business in Highworth nearly two years ago, the couple have achieved a five-star food hygiene rating and won over the hearts of the town.

But after struggling with a lack of parking and feeling they'd outgrown their shop, the business owners have chosen to relocate their shop to a larger building on the High Street.

"We will be open again from October 12 and you will find us in the market square in Highworth where there's plenty of parking.

"There will be a brand new layout including coffee and cake. Looking forward to seeing you all."

Their statement added: “Thanks to everyone for your offers of help and support to move, we really couldn't do it without you.

“We look forward to sharing the next stage of the adventure with you all.

“(It is) scary but exciting."

TT Linnet had been a key part of Highworth’s High Street for six years, but closed when its owners decided to take on a new challenge.

The Grade II-listed building is a four-storey space that also offers a rooftop terrace with views over the town.

Residents and other local businesses in Highworth say they cannot wait to see the couple bring the site back to life again.
