A Swindon chef who has spent the last two years operating a popular brunch takeaway from his own home has now opened his first public restaurant.

Jordan Dwyer has worked as a chef for 16 years and noticed a gap in Swindon's food options during lockdown, so set about starting his own breakfast and brunch business in Swindon.

Jordy's Kitchen first began as a takeaway service from an outbuilding-turned-kitchen at the bottom of the garden, but the chef quickly built up a large fanbase with his own takeaway app.

Having outgrown the space, Jordy's Kitchen has now officially moved to its first public-facing cafe/restaurant at 73 Basepoint Business Park.

Celebrating the launch of the new site on Friday, September 2024, the chef, his partner Hayriye and two-year-old son Archie welcomed in family, friends and supporters from across the town - including Swindon MP Heidi Alexander.

“We knew we needed a bigger kitchen at some point but we weren’t actively looking for a new premise, and then Basepoint Business Park actually approached us. It just seemed like the perfect opportunity to expand," explained Jordan's partner Hayriye.

“At the moment it’s more of a grab-and-go, but there’s so much potential here for more.

“We’ll still be operating our takeaway service with our app, but we also now have this space for seating outside as well as a collection space inside.

“Hopefully once we’re properly settled we will be able to get an outdoor heater and really build this place up."

Jordan, who was head chef at a bistro in Calne and has also worked at several restaurants in Wiltshire, says he was inspired to cook because he wanted to give something back to Swindon.

“I think the food options in Swindon are poor so I wanted to do something nice for the town," he told the Advertiser.

“So I decided to do a business plan and just go for it and chase my dream."

The business has already received the seal of approval from Swindon MP Heidi Alexander who told the couple they had a "great place here" and wished them luck.

Jordy's Kitchen will be offering 20 per cent off on orders when customers first download the app, and can't wait to get up and running after their grand opening on Wednesday, October 2.
