A new drive-thru bakery chain being built in Swindon has begun taking shape.
Swindon already has nine Greggs stores and two Greggs counters inside service stations, but the popular bakery chain has decided it's not finished in Swindon yet.
Swindon's first drive-thru Greggs is currently being built near the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Great Western Way, close to the existing Greggs store on Lydiards Fields.
Photos of the area show significant progress.
Although the official Greggs logo is yet to go up, the site has already been painted in iconic Gregg's blue and outside bins and cycle racks have been installed.
The drive-thru facility is 1,800 square feet in size and is currently being constructed by Dencora after the land was acquired from REQ Investments Ltd.
Very little information has been given about the drive-thru so far, and no formal opening date has been announced.
This new addition comes after Greggs successfully trialled 24-hour drive-thrus in March 2023 at selected stores across the country.
Currently, only 12 Greggs drive-thrus exist across the country, with the closest ones to Swindon being located at Kipling Court in Carterton, Oxfordshire, and Merlin Road in Bristol.
