A disused convenience store in Swindon town centre is set to become a brand-new nail bar.

The closure of Havelock Street Convenience store was confirmed at the beginning of August after the owner of the building seized control of it.

Despite the store being in a prime position among a row of retail outlets and offering everything from sandwiches, bread, alcohol, vegetables, newspapers, cards, cigarettes, scratch cards and mobile phone top-ups, a note on the door from the landlord said the locks had changed to shut the former business owner out.

Now Kilpatrick & Co have secured a new letting on the shop and flat of 49 Havelock Street and announced the new tenant will open a nail bar at the premises.

The asking rent was £18,000 per annum with a business rates liability of £7,485 and includes 646 sq ft on the ground floor with an open plan retail area, kitchenette, stores and WC and the first floor one-bedroom flat extends to 470 sq ft offering a kitchen, bathroom and living room.

Alex Hill of Kilpatrick & Co said: “We are pleased to complete this letting and get another shop reoccupied in Swindon Town Centre and wish the new tenant success with their business.”

Kilpatrick & Co are based at Delta Business park and has several other shops available to buy or let in Swindon town centre and also offers services in North Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire, West Berkshire and throughout the M4/M5/M40 Region, via its associated offices.

Further details about the business moving into the building are yet to be revealed and it is yet to be announced when the nail bar will be open.

The building was repossessed by the landlord earlier this year, with a note placed on the door.

The note said: "To Mr Adeleke Titilayo Asekun. Take notice that Valeridge Ltd the landlord of these premises have today re-entered therein in accordance with their power to do so and as a consequence of such re-entry the premises have been secured.

"And further take notice that no person may lawfully enter onto these premises unless they have been authorised by the above.

"Any attempt by any person to enter these premises without the previous authority of Valeridge Ltd may amount to a criminal offence and result in prosecution."

The notice directed anyone with enquiries to contact commercial property specialists Kilpatrick and Co and the building was listed as available for lease.
