The brewery that owns the Patriot’s Arms has issued an update on the recently boarded up and closed pub.

Stonegate have said they are looking for the “right” publican for the pub - the only one left in the village apart from a social club.

Previous managers Graeme and Jane Jeapes, were refurbishing the pub into a family-friendly space for food and drink but faced financial and legal barriers with the pub being shut up in September.

A spokesperson for the pub’s owner, the Stonegate Group, said: "We are currently closed while we undertake the recruitment process for a new publican for The Patriot's Arms. (Image: Dave Cox)

“Located on New Road in Chiseldon, we know the pub is at the heart of the community and is a popular spot for locals to enjoy one of our great value beverages.

“Therefore, we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we hire the right publican to run the beloved pub.”

An advert for managing the pub on the Stonegate website describes it as a “blank canvas” with “stacks of opportunity” and “great potential for drawing in new customers”.

The ideal operator is “an experienced operator looking to put their own stamp on the pub and drive it forward”.
