Roadworks have caused slow traffic on the A419 in Swindon with drivers being forced to leave the route.

A short stretch of the busy A-road has been closed either side of the White Hart Roundabout, with drivers being diverted to leave and then rejoin the A419 via the junction’s slip roads.

This began at around 1am on Saturday, October 5, and is due to continue until 7am on Monday, October 7, according to one.network.

During this time, structural maintenance is being carried out to the A419 over the White Hart Roundabout.

The works have caused significant traffic in the area throughout Saturday, and these delays are likely to continue until Monday morning.

The AA has reported long queues of traffic waiting to leave the A419 via the diversion in both directions, as well as some additional traffic on the junction and surrounding routes as a result.

A spokesperson added: “Road closed and delays due to weekend roadworks until the early hours of Monday morning on A419 both ways at A420 Merlin Way (White Hart roundabout).

“Congestion on the approach to the closure and also surrounding routes through Swindon. Detour in operation.”
