A former bus depo earmarked for housing in Swindon is on the market for nearly £2 million.

The old Stagecoach bus depot on Eastcott Road remains up for sale for £1.95 million, years after the bus company left the site.

Savills, the firm marketing the property, is holding a viewing day on Thursday, October 10, and unconditional offers are currently being invited until October 30.

In 2018, planning permission was granted to demolish the buildings that used to make up the site and replace them with 45 new residential units and associated parking.

Savills says this planning consent remains valid, with the land being marketed as a “development opportunity.”

In total, the land for sale is 1.54 acres and borders King William CE Primary School and a host of residential homes.

Stagecoach made the move from its old site to a new bus depot on the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in 2016.

At the time, the bus company said the Eastcott site was too “constrained” to allow the growth of its services.

Developers originally proposed turning the closed depot into 61 retirement apartments, but these plans were rejected over fears they would harm the conservation area.
