A Swindon-based entrepreneur has been shortlisted for an award celebrating achievement in the armed forces community.

Phillip Jones, founder of The Chocolate Soldier, joined the Royal Logistics Corps as a chef in 1999.

He has now been named as a finalist in the Soldiering On Awards 2024 for his company's work selling handmade chocolates to restaurants, cafes, hotels, and military dinner nights.

The awards, now in their 14th year, acknowledge outstanding achievement in the armed forces community from serving personnel, veterans, and family members.

Lt Col Ren Kapur, CEO of the Soldiering On Awards, said: "Year after year, the individuals and organisations nominated for the Soldiering On Awards never cease to inspire, which makes shortlisting finalists an incredibly challenging task.

"The awards are crucial for spotlighting remarkable stories and ensuring inspirational achievements receive both local and national recognition."

Mr Jones' company is one of three finalists in the Business Start-Up Award category.

The winner will be announced at a black-tie event at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on October 16, hosted by broadcaster Jeremy Vine.

A panel of independent judges selected 36 finalists from a range of nominees across 12 categories.
