A yellow weather warning has been issued for Swindon and Wiltshire with thunderstorms forecast to batter the county.
Wiltshire is braced for 12 hours of potential storms after the warning was issued by the Met Office, stretching from 10am to 10pm on Tuesday, October 8.
This warning covers the whole of Wiltshire and Swindon and also stretches west across Bath and much of the south and southeast of England.
During this time, residents have been warned that “heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected”, with some “localised disruption” possible.

Drivers have been warned to take care, with the Met Office predicting that there is a “good chance” conditions will be affected by spray, standing water, and or hail, leading to longer journey times.
Flooding of a few homes and businesses in areas prone to flooding is also “likely”, according to the forecasters, with damage to buildings and structures possible as a result.
However, the worst of this is expected to be felt in the southeast of the affected area, rather than Wiltshire.
Damage from lightning strikes, delays to train services, and short term loss of power are also possibilities throughout the day.
