A closed Swindon town centre restaurant remains up for sale as the former tenant speaks out.

The former home of Johnny's Grill, a Romanian restaurant on Bridge Street, was put up for sale on April 5 due to the owner wanting to move on to other business interests.

The restaurant had originally started as a takeaway in 2022 and moved to the town centre due to high demand.

But as of August 20, 2024, the Johnny's Grill site closed its doors permanently and appears to be continuing to offer a takeaway service on JustEat.

"It is with great regret that we inform you that Johnny's Grill has permanently ceased its operations," said a spokesperson for the business.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported our small business.

"Unfortunately, our road ends here."

Taking to social media, the former owner said: "With a heavy heart our business is now closed and our premises is up for sale with 4.5 years left on a lease contract.

"The lease can be renewed on a 10-year basis if wanted to.

"The business was established in 2022, building up an excellent reputation and regular customer base. As seen by the online ratings and reviews, the business is very popular by everyone.

"The restaurant has 24 covers inside and the premises has a liquor licence for both on and off-the-premises consumption but the new buyer will need to have their own one as well in order to sell alcohol."

"Above the restaurant, we have four rented accommodations which have always been occupied and still are now.

"This will therefore generate an additional income for the new owners as the premises rent is £1280 and the generated amount from the accommodation is just over £1400."

The former home of Johnny's Grill on Bridge Street remains on the market for an asking price of £49,995.
