Two 60mph Swindon roads could be cut to 30 as part of huge housing development plans.
Old Vicarage Lane and Thornhill Road in South Marston in east Swindon are the site of the 8,000-home New Eastern Villages, one of the largest greenfield developments in the country.
Part of the roads are currently set at the national speed limit, but an application has been made and consultation is underway to extend a 30mph limit to their whole lengths.

A statement of reasons says the order is a result of an S278 application as part of the New Eastern Villages South Marston development.
It adds: “The lower speed will improve pedestrian and vehicle safety, as existing visibility is poor on the road, with the geometry not supporting the current speed in some locations.
“This Order is for the safety of all road users using this section of road.”
The orders have the support of South Marston Parish Council, which says the change will coincide with the construction of the new junctions at either end of Hammerman Way and elsewhere
The parish also says it is in line with its neighbourhood plan.
Work began on 2,500 homes in the New Eastern Villages on August 29.
As part of the consultation period, objections can be made online here.
