The sister of a man who was fatally stabbed in Swindon has said knife crime has ruined her life three years on from his death.

Lee Turner, 33, was attacked on The Venny in Pinehurst on October 10, 2021, and died from a single stab wound to the chest.

On the third anniversary of his Lee’s death, his sister Jordan Turner said her loss is still just as painful as it was back in 2021 and believes there is not enough being done to prevent people from carrying weapons.

“Knife crime has ruined my life forever”, Jordan said.

“It’s the worst pain having someone violently taken from you and I’m grateful to the public who tried to save him.

“To me, he was loving, caring and a fantastic uncle and brother and he is missed so much. He was funny and loved his food and gym.

"As a family, we lost him three years ago and it doesn’t feel like that at all. We can’t close that book and move on as we have not had any justice.

“Lee had a small knife on him because he was in a vulnerable position. He was released from prison nine days before on October 1 and 10 days later he died. There wasn’t any support for him.

“Me and Mum identified his body and that was the last time we saw him.

“It was a kitchen knife that killed him and the government banning machetes and zombie knives won’t stop deaths. It’s so accessible to buy knives online without any ID checks.”

Jordan and her friend Danyelle King set up the community group Change Lives No to Knives to raise awareness of knife crime in Swindon and Jordan reads her victim impact statement in schools and prisons to highlight the tragic consequences of knife crime.

The pair recently won the BBC Radio Wiltshire Volunteer of the Year award.

Jordan added: “If I didn’t volunteer, I don’t know where I’d be. I do it out of the love of my heart and I’m so grateful.

“I have amnesty with the police to collect bladed articles, but it can be difficult to get people to hand them over. If we get a call and someone is in need, we’re there for them.

“People don’t realise how quickly a knife can take someone's life and there’s no justification for carrying it. Lee wasn’t an angel but nobody deserves to have their life taken in such a violent way.”
