People who care for others with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or autism have been celebrated at a special event.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) NHS Trust organised the event to recognise the contributions of carers, offering them a day of "celebration, relaxation, and support".

The 'Let's Hear Carers' event included various wellbeing activities, such as Tai Chi and pebble painting, as well as a free lunch and a raffle.

Attendees also enjoyed talks from speakers and entertainment, including a guest appearance from comedian Angie Belcher.

Sarah Jones, director of nursing and quality at AWP, said: "Carers make a massive difference to the lives of the people they care for.

"We recognise that caring for or supporting someone with a mental health condition can often feel isolating.

"Our 'Let's Hear Carers' event provided an opportunity for carers to take a break, connect with others, and access the support and information available in their local communities."

The event also featured representatives from voluntary and carer organisations, who provided information on the range of services available to support carers.

Susan Woodland, patient and carer experience co-ordinator at AWP, added: "This event was a small way to say thank you and remind them that they are not alone."
