A man who was greeted by stained bedding at a Swindon hotel says he is frustrated that he has not received a full refund.

When Jayden stayed at the Village Hotel in West Swindon on October 3, he immediately noticed the duvet cover appeared dirty and pulled the bedding off to reveal 'blood stains and markings' on the mattress protector and mattress.

He says he took pictures and went straight down to reception to report the issue and was swiftly upgraded to another room at the hotel, but did not check the condition of the bedding or mattress.

The next morning he says he noticed there were stains on the bedding yet again, despite paying £133 for the one-night stay, and claims the pictures are from two different rooms.

Jayden said: “I don’t go to hotels often, it’s just once in a blue moon. I wouldn’t stay there again as I know full well it isn’t cleaned properly, so I definitely wouldn’t want to sleep there again.

“I had to pay a £15 late checkout fee and they refunded it, but that isn’t the point. I went down to reception to say I wasn’t happy and I wasn’t comfortable and then they moved me, but I’d say the majority of mattresses must have stains on them.

"Maybe they try to cover it with the sheets tucked in when they should be binned - it's disgusting. Especially when it has a blood stain because that’s a health hazard.

“They had the cheek to say I was being noisy but it was late at night and I was chilling out. They didn’t knock on the door and ask me to keep the noise down like they would in any other hotel.

“After my stay, I was waiting to speak to the manager, but all they did was refund £15 after I paid £133 and an extra £10 for breakfast.”

A spokesperson for Village Hotel said: “I confirm that we were aware of Jayden's stay, and the complaint he raised and can confirm that he did change rooms and receive a goodwill payment from us for the inconvenience.”
