The most expensive house recently put up for sale in Swindon is still less than £1 million, despite being in a “highly sought after location”.
While there are more pricey houses than this one in Purton (which property sites class as part of Swindon), The Farmhouse has the highest price tag out of any added in the last two weeks.
Estate agents Home Finders say they are 'incredibly proud' to be selling the five-bed family house, which they described as being charming and making a statement.
It says: “The Farmhouse is a beautifully presented and very impressive period residence that has been extensively refurbished and renovated throughout since its original construction in c.1890's to create the perfect blend of modern and period character that delivers a truly remarkable architectural design.”
Evidence of this renovation is immediately apparent. The three-floored house is first entered by a “spacious” reception hall with parquet flooring and a new log burner.
However, even the brand-spanking log burner cannot hold a candle to the next room, which the agent describes as “break-taking”.
It says: “The kitchen is both luxurious in design and spec that provides ample storage and is the perfect environment for entertaining guests.”
While it is not said what it is about this kitchen/sitting room that will leave you breathless, luckily it has French doors onto the rear garden for some deep breaths of fresh air for all the guests.
Adjoining the kitchen is a private garden room, which the agent suggests could make a good gym, hobby room, or more space for more guests.
Outside, guests can play on the climbing frame, the slide, or the trampoline, although these may leave with the previous owners of the most expensive house in Swindon.
Upstairs are four bedrooms. A master bedroom has three built-in double wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom, with one other ensuite.
While the first-floor master bedroom is “fantastic”, the bedroom on the second floor is “impressive”.
Your guests may echo the seller, who says: “[It has] a remarkable design that has every corner thoughtfully considered to create one of the most impressive conversions on a period detached home.”
The house has not always been so pricey. In 2016 it sold for £685,000. The Witts Lane house is being sold on a freehold basis, and the council tax band is as of yet undecided.
