The reason why multiple Christmas lights have lit up Swindon's streets in October has been revealed.
Confusion surrounding this year's Christmas lights event first began when Old Town residents spotted some of the lights already switched on during early October.
Photos of the illuminated lights which are attached to lampposts in Victoria Road and Wood Street were seen by the Swindon Advertiser on Wednesday, October 9.
One Old Town resident told the Adver: "I'm all for Christmas spirit but even I think the beginning of October is a bit insane.
"I thought they were all supposed to be turned on at the big lights switch-on event. Has someone pressed the button a bit too early?"

Now clarifying concerns, a spokesperson for Old Town Business Association, which organises the Christmas light switch-on event each year, has confirmed that the Christmas lights are not supposed to be turned on yet.
"The lamp post column has a broken timer - there are actually three that are on right now," said the spokesperson.
"Swindon Borough Council know about it and we are waiting for them to repair it."
Swindon Borough Council has been contacted for further comment on the situation but has yet to respond.
This year's official Christmas lights switch-on festival will be held on November 24, 2024 on Wood Street and Victoria Road in Old Town from midday until 6pm.
It was regularly one of the town's most anticipated annual fixtures.
Tickets, which are currently available, are priced at £1.25 each, and more details including a full line-up of stalls and entertainment will follow closer to the time.
