Wiltshire Police officers from the Roads Policing Unit were on Hungerdown Lane in Chippenham carrying out speed checks on the afternoon of Monday, October 14.

They stopped six drivers and gave them “words of advice in relation to their speed”, but no more serious punishments were recorded.

“Six vehicles were stopped and the drivers given words of advice in relation to their speed.

The week before officers from Wiltshire Police’s Chippenham Neighbourhood Team were stationed on London Road to clock any drivers speeding into Chippenham from the Calne direction.

During these checks, six drivers were caught travelling along the busy 30mph road at excess speed and were stopped by police and again issued “words of advice”.

Police issued a warning to other drivers in the area, urging them to stick to the speed limit to prevent crashes on Wiltshire’s roads.

A spokesperson said at the time: “Please drive carefully and stick to the speed limits to protect yourself and others on the road.”
