The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

WILTSHIRE: Crown Pavilions, of Watlington in Oxfordshire, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

A company employee was found guilty of using a Volkswagen on the A419 in Badbury which had no plating certificate when the maximum gross weight of 3,500kg was exceeded by 1,400kg on May 2, 2024.

The defendant must pay a fine of £5,400 as well as £108 in court costs and £2,000 to victim services.

Separately, 35-year-old Arturas Mockus, of Humberstone Close in Luton, was sentenced for the same offence. He must pay a fine of £1,800 plus £108 in court costs and £720 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: The parents of a young boy have been sentenced after he failed to attend school regularly in spring 2024.

The two defendants, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the youth involved in this case, each pleaded guilty to two counts of the offence and must pay fines of £115 as well as £125 in court costs and £46 to fund victim services.

WALCOT: Carina De Matos Braz, of Queens Drive, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio along Church Place on February 7, 2024, without insurance when the front near side wheel was fitted with a pneumatic tyre which had the ply or cord exposed.

She received six penalty points on her driving licence and must pay a fine of £220 as well as £88 to fund victim services.

STRATTON: Trevor Jordan, of Burden Close, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 67-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Land Rover Defender around Princes Street car park without due care and attention on July 11, 2023.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and must pay a fine of £72 as well as £85 in court costs plus £29 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Muminur Lizu, of Albert Road in North Woolwich, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to driving along the M4 near Junction 17 at more than 70mph without due care and attention on February 19, 2024.

He has been banned from driving for 56 days, fined £586, and ordered to pay £234 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Tracy Manser, of Harding Street, has been sentenced for thefts from a shop.

The 34-tear-old was found guilty of stealing meat products worth £407 from the Co-op in Old Town on June 27, 2024, taking sweets worth £41.85 from the Covingham branch of the supermarket chain on July 16, stealing £52.79 worth of laundry products from a Co-op on September 29, and shoplifting meat worth £40 from the supermarket on September 15.

She received a 12-week prison sentence that has been suspended for two years as the offence is so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified and the defendant is a persistent offender, breached bail and is on a community order.

A new community order requires her to carry out up to 40 rehabilitation activity days.

COATE: Leo Morris, of Homington Avenue, has been sentenced for having a dangerous dog.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to having an XL Bully in Swindon on March 6, 2024.

The dog will be destroyed because magistrates consider the dog's breed to constitute a danger to public safety of immediate risk and find that having considered the defendant's previous convictions, he is not a fit and proper person to control the dog.

He must also pay £700 in compensation as well as a fine of £120 plus £85 in court costs.
