More than 750 children took part in holiday camps run by a Swindon-based children’s activity provider over the summer.

Just for Fun Holiday Club, established by Sean Harper and Mike Jones in 2018, delivers activities for children during school holidays.

This summer, the club saw a significant increase in attendance, especially among children over the age of 11.

The club offered a variety of sessions, including arts and crafts, sports, and other physical activities.

Some of the summer's highlights included fruit skewers and smoothie making, biscuit decorating, a talent show, and a summer party.

Mr Harper said: "The talent show emerged as one of the standout moments of the summer, with children showcasing a wide range of skills, from singing and dancing to magic tricks and more.

"The club’s staff were thrilled to provide feedback and encouragement, making the event a memorable celebration of creativity and confidence.

"It was such a joy to watch the children express themselves and build confidence during the talent show.

"Seeing their performances and enthusiasm really encapsulated the spirit of Just for Fun."

The children also enjoyed hands-on experiences with JJs’ reptiles and played padel, a racket sport combining elements of tennis, squash, and badminton.

Other activities included mini medics, which aimed to teach basic first aid skills in a fun way, bird feeder crafting, water fights, and visits from the emergency services.

The club's venues - Holy Cross Primary School, Grange Junior School, Goddard Park Community Primary School, and Rodbourne Cheney - opened at 8am and offered flexible collection times.

Seven staff members were specifically allocated to assist children who needed extra support.

Mr Harper added: "We are proud of our ability to offer a fun and safe environment for all children, including those needing additional support.

"Our dedicated team ensures that every child has the chance to enjoy the holiday club experience in a way that suits them.

"It’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact this has."

This summer, the club was part of the Department for Education-funded Holiday Activity and Food programme, which supports children from reception to Year 11 who receive income-related free school meals.

This allowed these children to access the club’s activities and enjoy meals prepared in-house.

Feedback from parents and children was "overwhelmingly positive," the club said, with many praising the quality of the lunches and the opportunity for second helpings.
