A market event in Swindon promoting independent local businesses is back for a Christmas instalment.
Swindie Makers Market, founded by illustrator Lora O'Callaghan in 2021, is returning to Christ Church in Old Town with a handpicked selection of 25 makers selling unique artisan gifts for the festive season.
On Saturday, November 23 - from 11am to 3pm - artists, musicians and food and drink businesses will celebrate the seventh market event.
Lora said: “Swindie is a one-day event that brings together talented modern makers, musicians and food & drink businesses all under one roof and for our seventh one we are back at Christ Church for an exclusive Christmas event.

“Born after a desire to get small creative business owners together to sell their on-trend, high-quality products.

“Each stall is carefully selected with an emphasis on the quality of products, brand identity along with the business's ethos. We’re super excited to be back.
“So set the date in your diaries, 23rd of November and get ready to support small and celebrate all things indie. Come down and shop for your Christmas gifts this year!”

After exploring hosting the event at other venues in Swindon, including STEAM Museum and Pattern Church, the market has returned to Old Town following demand from customers.
At their last event in September, 40 local businesses from Wiltshire, Bath and Bristol were selling handmade jewellery, soaps, candles, cards, clothing and trinkets.
Lora told the Advertiser: “I like to see the whole networking side of it because so many relationships have flourished since I’ve started this. We’ve had so many business owners meeting up and collaborating and they have got more customers through the markets – it’s great to see them flourish.
“You don’t realise there are so many people doing creative things, so it’s cool to see it all.”
