A pensioner is being sent to Crown Court next month after causing grievous bodily harm - with a mobility scooter.
72-year-old Peter Twohey, of Manor Close in Wroughton, pleaded guilty to driving his mobility scooter into another elderly man on August 20, 2023, after a dispute over a dog.
The 71-year-old victim was left with a serious hip fracture, which required treatment.
“There had been some build-up to this incident, as a few weeks earlier Mr Twohey said the complainant made threats to hit his dog," explained defence lawyer Emma Hillier.
"On this occasion, Mr Twohey says the claimant had struck the dog."

Prosecutor Mr Power added: “They were dispute and then Mr Twohey turned his mobility scooter around and drove it into the complainant."
Twohey told the court he had not been aware of the injury he caused when he fled the scene, and when he was later informed by his wife of a Facebook post seeking witnesses, he immediately called 101 and handed himself in.
The pensioner is not a regular offender and the last time he was in court was 1978.
Despite the victim having since died due to health complications unrelated to this incident, Twohey will now be sentenced in Crown Court for "unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon a person."
The pensioner will next appear in Swindon Crown Court on November 29, 2024, and has been released on unconditional bail while a pre-sentence report is put together.
