An Australian comedian is bringing their show to Swindon as part of their UK tour.

Rhys Nicholson, winner of Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2022 and Best Show at the Sydney Comedy Festival 2022, is set to perform their new show, 'Huge Big Party Congratulations!', at Swindon Arts Centre on October 24.

The comedian, who is a regular fixture on TV and a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, is bringing their new show to the UK after performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The tour will see them perform at 22 venues across the UK between September 6 and October 30.

The show is set to entertain with a blend of humour and personal stories, as they talk about their journey to marriage and the questions that come with it.

Rhys will also explore themes of self-discovery and the challenges of married life.

The show was given five stars by The Age, which said: “There are few greater pleasures in Australian comedy than watching Rhys Nicholson in full flight”

TimeOut also gave it five stars, saying: “The Comedy Festival Show with the highest number of laughs per minute…Nicolson is an absolute master of the form”

The comedian is not only known for their stand-up performances but also for their appearances on popular TV shows such as Taskmaster Australia, Roast Battle UK, and The Stand-Up Sketch Show.

They have also acted in various sitcoms, including Netflix's sci-fi comedy The Imperfects.

Their career took off in 2019 when they were chosen to open for comedy legend Conan O’Brien on his Australian tour.

This led to Rhys' US television debut as the stand-up guest on CONAN.

Rhys performed a sell-out debut UK tour with their show ‘Rhys, Rhys, Rhys’, which followed on from the success of performing several critically-acclaimed hours at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

In addition to their comedy career, Rhys is also the co-founder of Melbourne live comedy venue, The Comedy Republic, and recently released their debut book of essays 'Dish: Spiels, scoops, emotional outbursts and the occasional recipe'.

Tickets for the Swindon show are available now.

Chortle has praised the show, saying: “Vivid, colourful comic storytelling….razor sharp musings on life, resulting in an undeniable slew of powerhouse punchlines.”

The Scotsman added: "What a privilege to enjoy the work of a performer who can deliver such skilful, elegant and perfectly crafted stand up."
