Hundreds of nails and rivets left scattered for days at a busy road junction were a hazard, a driver has said.
He says he reported the dangerous issue in Gorse Hill to the council on Thursday, which said it would “sort it” - but they were still there on Monday, four days later.
He said the junction of Chapel Street and Cricklade Road sees hundreds of cars each day and it would just take one to burst a tyre and cause an accident.

The driver said on Monday: “It's like the nail versus the tyre, who's gonna win? And the buses are spreading them all over the junction now.
“It's a very busy junction. You have police cars passing by, ambulances, buses, everything. I sent pictures to the council but no one cares. Nothing happens. And the nails are there to stay.”
“It’s a road hazard.”
The council gives a different account. It says they sent someone on Friday who cleaned up the sharp objects, and again on Monday after further complaints but there were no nails visible.
But the concerned resident maintains they were only cleaned up on Tuesday, and returned multiple times to check over the weekend.
He even called the police, who told him it was the council’s problem.
He said: “I would gladly volunteer, you know if someone would stop the traffic. It would take 10 minutes but the traffic never stops there.
“But I need someone there with a yellow vest or something.”
He first made an online report on Thursday, and then on Friday called the council twice.
“I called them again at the end of the day on Friday and the lady said to me, oh, don't worry, leave it with me.
“They were aware of the report and nothing happened. Now it's Monday, Monday rush hour and nothing happened, the rivets and the nails are still there.
“I live nearby, I have to drive over this junction and I'm not comfortable with it in my car. When I go to Lidl I have to make a big circle.”
Only on Tuesday, October 16, was the local satisfied that the nails had been cleared up. But he warned: “If you have you passed in the last four days through this busy junction, check your tyre.”
The council did not offer further comment.
