A former police officer has appeared in court charged with multiple sex attacks on a girl under 14 in Wiltshire.

Former Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick appeared in Westminster Crown Court on Thursday, October 17.

The 49-year-old is accused of five counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14 in Salisbury, between 1989 and 1990, when he was a teenager.

He is also charged with two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of coercive and controlling behaviour in relation to a woman between 2014 and 2019 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Carrick appeared at the London court via video-link, wearing a grey tracksuit.

He spoke to confirm his name and age but was not asked to give pleas.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on November 14.

Carrick had links to Wiltshire while a police officer and earlier this year an IOPC investigation found two Wiltshire Police officers had failed to adequately investigate allegations about him years before his arrest.

Both Inspector David Tippetts and PC Emma Fisher were given final written warnings for misconduct in relation to this investigation.
