A bar and nightclub in Central Swindon is hoping to extend its hours for a special Halloween party - but it might face trouble because of past noise complaints.
The Power Lounge in Bridge Street in the town centre is advertising its Heaven Upstairs /Hell Downstairs party on Saturday, October 26, which will feature live performances and DJs playing.
The club’s management has applied for a temporary event notice to extend its hours to 5am on the morning of Sunday, October 27.
Its application is just to be able to continue its normal operations, including having a DJ play, until the later hour.
Swindon Borough Council’s environmental health officer has objected to the extension.
The submission to the council’s licensing team states: “I am of the view to object to this application because there is evidence of noise complaints from the venue for noise nuisance, which would suggest that extending the hours of live and recorded music will likely cause a public nuisance.”
The matter will be considered by a three-councillor-strong licensing panel at the civic offices in Euclid Street on Tuesday, October 22, at 1pm.
Members of the public are entitled to attend the meeting.
