The controversial media personality Katie Hopkins is returning to Swindon next year with a brand new tour.
Hopkins' will be touring around the UK from May until July 2025 with her comedy show Batsh*t Bonkers Britain, including one night at MECA on June 5.
The description of the show promises a “proper belly laugh” from an “unapologetically bold” figure and says everyone is welcome.
It reads: “Katie’s daily ‘Batsh*t Bonkers’ briefing is now the most trusted source of news for those wanting a speedy update on what’s actually going on, with a side order of snark and laughter.

“Whether it’s poking fun at sickly sweet celebrities, sticking two fingers up at hypocrites in charge, or tearing herself a new one, Katie is unapologetically bold. This is a laugh out loud escape for all the adults in your family.

“With more dates and venues than ever before, there’s a place for everyone. No matter what your views or beliefs, your age or your background we can all agree we need to laugh together and feel better. And that’s what Katie Hopkins promises to deliver.”
Last year her appearance at MECA sparked controversy when two local organisations – Swindon Stand Up To Racism and Swindon Solidarity – urged Swindon Borough Council and MECA to cancel the show, following Hopkins’ history of offensive comments.
They wrote an open letter to the council and venue highlighting previous comments they deemed as racist and pointing out that she had been banned from South Africa ‘for spreading racial hatred.’

But in a statement on social media, MECA backed the decision to host Hopkins, saying it “firmly believes that everyone has the right to a place on our stage.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the campaign said: "We are astounded that Swindon Borough Council, whose cabinet is set to approve that Swindon join the City/Borough of Sanctuary network are allowing this event to take place in a building it owns.
"Swindon are in the top five cities and towns in the South West for taking refugees. Surely allowing this racist and divisive woman to appear goes against the cabinet’s proposal to ask members to affirm the Authority’s’ commitment to welcoming refugees and asylum seekers?
"Katie Hopkins is far from welcoming to refugees and asylum seekers."
