A pedestrian has been hospitalised with life-threatening injuries after being found on a busy Swindon road.

A witness called police at around 10.55pm on Tuesday, October 22, after noticing a man in his 50s who was in lane one of Cirencester Way with traffic heading in the direction of the Transfer Bridges roundabout.

The collapsed pedestrian had suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Officers set up a cordon at the scene while they investigated the circumstances of the injury and carried out enquiries.

The road has since fully reopened.

Police are appealing for witnesses who could help them learn more about what happened to the injured man.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are keeping an open mind as to the cause of the man’s injuries.

“Any witnesses to what may have happened is asked to contact us on 101 quoting 354 of October 22.”
