A new shop has opened in Swindon’s town centre.
Swindon Story Shed has set up a pop-up bookstore opposite Boots upstairs in the Brunel Shopping Centre and is offering a range of fun half-term activities for families.
Half-hourly activity free or pay-what-you-want sessions guided by Nick and Debi include writing entries for the BBC 500 Words competition, creating a magical character by learning artistic techniques, and coming up with the backstory to a character in a creative writing class.

There are similarly-priced hour-long sessions which involve learning the basics of playing Dungeons and Dragons and requesting a suggested £2 donation from players.
Registration is required and can be done online at www.swindonstoryshed.co.uk/online-booking or in person, then please arrive five minutes before the start time.
Certain activities can be joined at any time without pre-booking, such as the Brunel Big Story Build, custom Build-A-Story mats, a colour-in cardboard pirate ship and castle, and an art competition for ages seven and up with a £5 National Book Token prize.
The shop is open from 9am to 5pm daily (except Sunday) until November 2, and will offer a 10 per cent discount on books to anyone dressed as a pirate on October 28, a magical book character on October 30, or a spooky character on Halloween.
