A cordon has been removed following a police forensic investigation at two houses.

Homeowners in the area reported seeing large police activity at the scene spanning across both Friday and Saturday.

Ambulance, police and forensic teams first arrived at Queens Avenue in Highworth on October 25 at around 3pm and remained there for some time.

A search of a property on that road and another on nearby Vorda Road was carried out by detectives and forensic officers.

They have now departed and the street shows no signs of emergency services presence.

However, concerned neighbours are still none the wiser as to why the police were there for so long and in such numbers.

And after initially describing it as a 'medical incident', Wiltshire Police has now provided an update.

A spokesperson said "Enquiries at a property in Highworth, following a medical incident have now concluded Although there was police activity at the time our investigation has resulted in this no longer being a police incident.

"We would like to thank the family involved for their understanding and cooperation."

A spokesperson for the force had initially told the paper over the weekend: "We responded to reports of a medical incident in Highworth on Friday evening (25/10).

"Our enquiries are ongoing, and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 14:47hrs on Friday 25 October to an incident in Swindon.

"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We responded to reports of a medical incident in Highworth on Friday evening (25/10).

"Our enquiries are ongoing, and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

At the time of the investigation, one eyewitness said "loads" of police and forensic investigators were still at the scene on Saturday morning and the neighbours were "very concerned".

They described seeing an ambulance arrive at the address on Friday, followed by police officers guarding it overnight.

Then, the following Sunday morning 'loads more police and forensic detectives arrived' who remained.

It is not known if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
