A special educational needs school near Swindon is set to hold its first open day for prospective pupils and their parents.
Oaklands School, in Hungerford, West Berkshire, is an independent special educational needs day school and will welcome visitors on Saturday, November 16, with sessions at 9am and 11am.
Each session will last about an hour and offer a chance to meet the team, tour the school, and learn about the "Oaklands Way".
The school caters to pupils aged five to 16 with special and individual needs, accepting those with an Education, Health, and Care Plan, aiming to provide "unique, contemporary, and enjoyable learning experiences".
It provides specialist support for children with unique learning profiles, including autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and associated communication and language needs, as well as social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The school believes such differences "need not be barriers to success," and has taken the "very best school practices" and built them into the school.
In June, Oaklands School was inspected by Ofsted and received an "outstanding" grading for pupil personal development and a "good" grading across all other areas of the school, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management.
The report said: "The school uses the 'Oaklands Way' to make the school values of respect, honesty, kindness, commitment and creativity clear."
The school, which said it "offers a warm and friendly environment for learning", said its "curriculum offer is broad, balanced, and personalised to meet each individual pupil’s needs and is supplemented by a wide range of extra-curricular activities".
The school aligns its approach with the children’s Education, Health, and Care Plans, which encourage "personalisation, partnership working, accountability, and best value for money".
Bookings for the open day can be made by calling 01488 757367 or emailing info@oaklands-school.co.uk, stating a preferred time slot.
The school is closed for half term until Monday, November 4, so bookings will be confirmed after this date.
For those unable to attend the open day, the school invites interested parties to call or email to arrange a more convenient date and time for a visit.
The school said it wants to "be recognised as the very best performing school for pupils with special and individual needs, serving children and young people in the region," and its mission is to "provide innovative, personalised, and exciting learning opportunities that ensure our pupils are happy and successful in life".
