A new police team set up in Swindon and Wiltshire has helped catch some of the county's most dangerous criminals within just three months of starting up.
Formally set up in July 2024, the Swindon and County Local Policing Tasking Team (LPTT) was intended to support local police teams in specific areas to target the "top-priority offenders, high-harm offences and high-risk suspects."
It was hoped that the introduction of this team would reduce violence and serious harm and target crimes that matter the most to local communities.
Now three months on, the Swindon LPTT team have helped arrest some of the town's most dangerous criminals.
Frequent patrols and work with local intelligence has led to arrests and charges for grievous bodily harm with intent, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and dangerous driving.
“I want to highlight just how valuable community intelligence is in enabling us to conduct our day-to-day work," said Detective Constable Will Saunders, of the Swindon LPTT.
“The Swindon and County LPTTs rely on information from the public so we know where to target our patrols, areas to target, what is causing our communities the most concern at the moment, and so on.
“If there is anything that is concerning you, please don’t hesitate to report it on 101."
