MOTORWAY: Nicolas Rodell-Jones, of Three Cocks in Brecon, has been sentenced for a driving offence.
The 32-year-old used a handheld mobile phone while driving a Mercedes along the M4 eastbound between junctions 14 and 15 on February 21, 2024.
He received six penalty points on his driving licence and must pay a fine of £250 as well as £90 in court costs and £100 to fund victim services.
He avoided a driving ban as the impact it would have had on his business would have put his family in financial difficulties, and it would affect contact with his son.
TOWN CENTRE: Kayleigh Nicholls, of Sheppard Street, has been sentenced for two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
The 29-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to hitting two female detention officers in Swindon on October 23, 2024.
She received a community order that requires her to attend up to 20 rehabilitation activity days as well as pay £50 in compensation to one victim and £100 in compensation to the other.
In a separate hearing, she also indicated a plea of guilty to hitting a male police constable on October 27, 2024.
For this, she was jailed for 24 weeks due to - court documents say - the defendant's flagrant disregard for court orders, people, and their property, and because of the seriousness of the offence.
CHIPPENHAM: Vaida Baublyte, of Drovers Green in Yatton Kennell, has been sentenced for drink driving.
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Astra along St Peters Close on September 14, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath, namely 112 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, was more than three times the legal limit.
The court heard that the defendant had had an argument with a coworker, started drinking at her home and decided to driver over and speak to him face to face.
Her partner saw her trying to park, noticed that she looked dazed, and got into the driver's seat.
Police later stopped the vehicle and breathalysed her.
She has been banned from driving for 18 months, fined £416, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £116 to fund victim services.
