Police are investigating after two masked men allegedly set fire to and destroyed a van in Swindon.

The suspects are alleged to have smashed the passenger window of a blue Fiat van in Butterworth Street, near Faringdon Road, on the morning of Wednesday, October 23.

They then allegedly poured liquid inside and set fire to the vehicle, which resulted in it being destroyed.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force added: “Officers investigating an arson in Butterworth Street, Swindon, are asking for your help.

“Two men wearing balaclavas approached a blue Fiat van, smashed the passenger side window and poured liquid inside. The vehicle was then set alight and destroyed.

“This incident occurred during the early hours of last Wednesday (October 23).

“If you saw anything or have CCTV footage taken between 1.30am and 2.30am in and around the area, please contact 101 quoting 54240124940.”
