Police rushed to the scene of a one-vehicle crash on the A419 in Swindon.

Officers were called to the northbound carriageway of the major road, near the White Hart Roundabout, shortly after noon on Wednesday, October 30.

Just one vehicle was involved in the incident and the driver did not sustain any injuries.

Police remained at the scene for over an hour while the vehicle involved in the crash was recovered.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We responded to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A419 in Swindon at 12.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, October 30).

“The driver sustained no injuries, and his vehicle was recovered by 1.45pm.”

During this time, traffic on the northbound carriageway of the A419 was brought to a “standstill” while police and recovery crews worked to remove the obstruction.

Many drivers reported long queues and the AA and National Highways both confirmed there were significant delays compared to expected travel times.

An AA spokesperson said: “One lane blocked and slow traffic due to obstruction on the road on A419 northbound before A420 Merlin Way.”
