A café in Swindon has received a three out of five food hygiene rating.

The Platform One Café at the STEAM Museum in Rodbourne was rated generally satisfactory by food hygiene inspectors on October 7.

They found the hygienic food handling to be good, while the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety was deemed generally satisfactory.

The Café serves sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes, salads, burgers, homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks and museum admission is not required to visit the café.

It is located on the first floor of the museum and open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and Sunday 11am to 3pm.

Swindon Borough Council, who oversee the management of STEAM, said improvements are being made and the contractor who runs the café is expecting another visit from a food hygiene inspector soon.

A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said: “As any food outlet would do, we have carefully reviewed the report from the Food Hygiene Inspector.

“Since the visit, our contractor that runs the café has been acting on the advice and are awaiting a follow-up visit.”
