A Christmas tree has been spotted in Swindon less than 24 hours after Halloween ends and some have criticised the timing.
On Thursday, October 31, Swindon neighbourhoods were flooded with witches, zombies and adorable pumpkins as children took to the streets trick or treating.
But as of Friday, November 1, it was clear that it was out with one celebration and in with another as Christmas trees began appearing around town.
One tree, installed on November 1 at Swindon's Designer Outlet, even caught the eye of Swindon North, East and Rural police officers who commented: "Well the Halloween decorations have come down - must be time to put up the Christmas tree."
But while the continuous celebrations is welcome news for some, others have criticised the tree which was put up less than 24 hours after Halloween.
"We haven’t even had Guy Fawkes night yet, or remembrance weekend. Maybe getting our priorities mixed up," commented Swindon local Jackie Midwinter.
"I'm all for a bit of Christmas but the day after Halloween? Do we not want to wait a week or two until we've honoured our dead and finished with all the fireworks and bonfire nights?" added another resident, from Old Town.
Despite the criticism, others have rejoiced at the sight of the Swindon Designer Outlet's 2024 Christmas tree, saying it has given them the "go-ahead" to put their own trees up.
"A bit of sparkle makes people smile, it doesn't have to be in a particular order, and the fallen can still be honoured," said resident Ang Farrant.
The Designer Outlet tree is just the start of the Christmas festivities, as the official Old Town lights switch-on will take place on November 24, and the Town Gardens Enchanted Lights Trail will kick off from November 15.
