A prolific drink driver has been given a suspended sentence for his most recent offence.

Kwabena Gyamerah, 35, of Lumb Close, Tadpole Garden Village, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday November 4 after pleading guilty to drink driving and driving while disqualified on September 17.

Ms Winters, prosecuting, said Gyamerah caught the attention of officers after they saw the vehicle travelling in the opposite direction on Cricklade Road above the 30 miles-per-hour speed limit, demonstrating an “unacceptable standard of driving.”

They stopped his BMW 3 series and conducted a roadside breath test, which Gyamerah failed and in custody he provided a reading of 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35.

Gyamerah, who was self-representing in court, was disqualified in June 2022 for 36 months and has two previous drink driving convictions.

The Magistrate warned him: “You’re a really high-risk offender and if you carry on doing this, you’re going to kill someone or yourself or seriously injure someone.”

He was given a sentence of 16 weeks suspended for one year and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service, 120 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring, 20 days of work with probation and ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.

Gyamerah was also disqualified from driving for another three years.

“You’re running out of options. You can’t keep on behaving like this”, added the Magistrate.
