New Tommy figures have been installed around West Swindon as part of the parish’s Remembrance Day tributes.

West Swindon Parish Council has added the silhouettes to the Shaw, Toothill and Freshbrook village centres in honour of the brave men and women who served in the armed forces.

In recognition of their service, and to foster community remembrance, the Remembrance installations across the area offer a moment for residents to pause, reflect, and remember.

These figures are part of the council’s commitment to ensuring that the legacy of remembrance is kept alive in our community.

The Tommy figures and poppies have been made by the team at West Swindon Parish Council using recycled materials.

Parish council chair, Cllr Rose Llewellyn, said: “The parish council wanted to pay its respects to the courage and sacrifices made by the military, particularly as part of Remembrance Day and so I am proud on behalf of the council to unveil these poignant Tommy silhouettes.

“By placing these figures and poppies at various locations, we hope to create a tribute that resonates with all generations and keeps the memory of those who gave so much for our freedom alive."
