The following cases were heard in Swindon's courts earlier this week.
CRICKLADE: Ashley Dunn, of Fullers Avenue, has been sentenced for driving offences.
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Mazda 6 along the A3102 in Royal Wootton Bassett on July 27, 2023, with 3.3 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, 32 micrograms of cocaine, and 440 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine per litre of blood in his system.
The defendant did not have valid insurance or a valid driving licence at the time of this drug driving incident.
He also admitted to beating a male police officer on September 7, 2024.
He has been banned from driving for 48 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £150 in compensation to his assault victim, as well as carry out up to 25 rehabilitation activity days in the next six months.
WROUGHTON: Yvonne Ahs, of Markham Place, has been sentenced for criminal damage.
The 64-year-old changed her plea to guilty regarding a charge of causing £150 in damage to council-owned washing machines on June 15, 2024.
She must pay £150 in compensation as well as a £90 fine and £85 in court costs plus £36 to fund victim services.
SWINDON: Mark Thirkettle, currently of HMP Bullingdon, has been sentenced for two offences.
The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing a black Nike coat and shoes worth £185 altogether from the Swindon Designer Outlet's Nike Factory store on October 30, 2024, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause a police officer harassment, alarm or distress on November 1, 2024.
He received a 12-week prison sentence which has been suspended for 12 months because the offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified, the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders, and the number and nature of the offences shows that the defendant is operating as a professional criminal.
The shoplifter has also been banned from the Designer Outlet for 12 months.
