With bat numbers on the decline, a Wiltshire housebuilder is sharing how homeowners can provide a boost for the animals.
Barratt Homes is raising awareness about the decline in bat populations over the last century, largely due to habitat loss.
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Homes Bristol, said: "While bats are often linked to the spooky season, our commitment to supporting wildlife extends far beyond October.
"We've installed bat boxes across several of our developments in Wiltshire, including Wichel Fields and Orchards View at Wichelstowe.
"We will continue to provide this crucial shelter for local bat populations on our new developments as and when they come forward."
She added: "We believe our homeowners will appreciate living alongside these nocturnal neighbours, contributing to a thriving, wildlife-rich environment - something we know is important to many of our buyers."
The company has suggested ways homeowners can help with conservation efforts, such as creating a bat-friendly habitat at home.
This can be done by placing bought or homemade bat boxes on mature trees or buildings near hedgerows and tree lines.
Boxes should be placed at a height of at least four metres, facing south, and away from bright lights.
