Fire engines filled Swindon's town centre for six hours as crews battled a blaze in the old Lava Lounge building.

Incident Command units and an aerial appliance were among the specialist vehicles in attendance around Fleet Street.

Traffic queued as a main route through the area near the Fleming Way redevelopment was temporarily blocked off.

One firefighter used a powerful jet to douse the roof of the former nightclub from the top of a tall ladder platform.
