Swindon’s newest fish and chip shop has cut its prices and introduced new specials as the shop goes up for sale.

The owner said the £350k listing with Charles Harding does not mean the shop is closing and he wants it to succeed but is exploring all possible options.

Xana’s Fish Bar on Cricklade Road, Gorse Hill replaced Phillip’s, once hailed the best chippie in Swindon, in April and is owned by Joao Franca.

Joao said: “I'm just prepared for both ways. I'm prepared for the shop to go up and hold the shop. Or, I will have the second option is to sell or to lease.

“I'm doing everything I can at the moment. Change the price a little bit. See how things are going and hopefully, if things pick up, I will keep the shop going.”

A cod and chips now costs £9.50, an OAP special costs £6 and a mini fish and chips for £6.50.

He is also trying out a daily special. The shop opened at the end of May under the same owner as Monica’s Fish Bar in Blundson St Andrews.

The opening times are: Monday - Wednesday 4pm to 9pm; Thursday - Saturday 12pm to 2pm and 4pm to 9pm.
