Swindon's Field of Remembrance has been officially opened to the public in tribute to those who have died while serving in Britain's armed forces.
Located within Lydiard Park’s Walled Garden, the field acts as a peaceful place for quiet reflection, where people can pay their respects or leave tributes to those who died while serving in the military.
The opening service held on Thursday, November 7, was attended by veterans and Swindon dignitaries who came to pay their respects ahead of this Sunday's Remembrance celebrations.
The Mayor of Swindon Imtiyaz Shaikh was in attendance, as well as cadets from the Wiltshire Army Cadet Force who stood side by side with veterans, serving military personal and members of the public.
"A solemn occasion to honour and remember those who sadly lost their lives while serving in our Armed Forces," commented the Mayor.
The gardens will now be open from 10am until 4pm every day until Sunday, November 24, and residents have been encouraged to come and visit.
A two minute silence will also be held in the garden at 2pm each day until November 24.
