A Manchester band described as “legendary” will headline a festival near Swindon next summer.

James is a nine-piece indie rock band that can draw from three decades and 18 albums worth of material - including their latest number one album from April.

They will headline Wychwood Festival, a fast-growing family-friendly festival planned for May 30 to June 1, 2025 at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Our reporter attended in 2024 and said: “Wychwood is a relatively small festival, but for children there is tons to do.

Adding: “With the beautiful view and the peaceful campsite, just camping was one of the most enjoyable parts… for families wanting to get together for a weekend, Wychwood could be a great option.

The festival will be hoping to build on 2024 which featured Sister Sledge, Texas and Ocean Colour Scene.

James’ got popularity during the 1990s, with four top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart and nine top 10s on the UK Albums Chart.

The band's best-known singles include "Come Home", "Sit Down", "She's a Star" and "Laid".

Iain Game, Festival Director of Wychwood Festival, said: “We’re so excited to welcome James back to the racecourse next summer, now armed with incredible new music to add to the classics we all know and love.”
